If you’re a smoker who uses menthol products, here’s how the ban will affect you.
The Menthol and Capsule Ban is the phase of the European Tobacco Products Directive (EUTPD2) that first came into effect in May 2016.
Menthol Cigarettes and Capsule cigarettes are affected by the ban.
Capsule cigarettes have small capsules in the filter tip which are activated by squeezing between the fingertips. This changes the taste of the cigarette by releasing the menthol flavouring inside the capsule(s).
And Menthol cigarettes? We don’t need to explain what menthol cigarettes are do we?
The Menthol Ban also applies to hand-rolling tobacco with menthol filters or papers if they are all supplied together. The law does permit mentholated papers and filters to be sold though, just as long as they are sold separately from hand-rolling tobacco. Confusing isn’t it?
